As well as pampering all our clients dogs at Easterfield, we also have our own dogs that we show. So once all our clients dogs have been made to look beautiful and gone home, we begin the job of grooming, bathing, trimming as preparing our own dogs for the show ring.
Our first show of the season was on the May bank holiday. We took two of our own homebred dogs. First up was our red toy poodle puppy – Sarasate Whoopsie Daisy. This was Whoopsie first show and oh what fun did she have! She came home with two first prizes for puppy six months and under.
Next in the ring was our black miniature poodle – Sarasate Missy Elliott. Missy loves to be in the show ring, unfortunately sometimes a little to much! However she managed to keep her exuberance to a sensible level and won her junior dog class and then the A.V Utility class. Then to prove what a clever girl she is, she went on to take reserve best in show.
With only a week to recover it was time to begin all the coat preparation again for our next show. It always amazes me that despite the amount of time and work that you put in in-between shows on the dogs coats maintaining and preparing them, how long it actually takes to finish the coat of the day before a show.
For our next show we just took Missy. As mentioned previously she loves to show off however she managed to contain herself, showing just enough sparkle in the ring for the judge to appreciate. She was rewarded for this and was given first place. Next up was “Best of Breed” for the Miniature Poodles and once again she performed beautifully and we were absolutely thrilled when she was pulled forward as Best of Breed.
Happy Faces All Around!
I will update with any further show news throughout the year.
